i apologize if i am repeating question.

I bought interrail for the first time :)

Do you need to buy supplement in train (when conducter comes to you), or i have to buy it before boarding, on the train station ?

Thank you so much..

you have to have it before you board the train (technically) though if you are on a train that doesnt require a suppliment (like some night train seats) and want to upgrade to a couchette you can do that on the train

Total confusion

Postby angelpop2k1 » 02.08.2009 - 20:34

Hi

Iam getting really confused with all this rail information.

Me and my bf want to travel from dusseldorf to munich.

I have found a train on ICE 625 and it saying that it is subject to supplement.

Where is the best place to pay this supplement, as we are going next week would it be best to by it in the train station? Also does anyone know approx how much ti may cost.

Thanks

There is no extra cost on top of the IR ticket for travel on ICE trains within Germany

No its optional, but recommended if you are travelling at a popular time (morning/evening commute)

Are those prices in the section Price supplements the cost of the reservation or the supplement? because a friend told me that in France they charge you extra on some trains but I don't know if that's true :? ? Does anyone know anything about this?

hi...
if you buy a SUPPLEMENT, the seat/bed reservation is included.
but for trains which do not need a supplement, you can buy a seat reservation just to be sure to have a seat you like or to have a seat in peak times when there are a lot of travellers in a train.

Hi,

I am a first timer for interrail pass and like the others, I'm confused. :)

I want to go from Utrecht - Prague - VIenna - Zurich - Berlin - Utrecht starts from 22 of December with 5 days in 10 days pass. I will be travelling with 3 friends. Since we decided to use night trains, I tried to follow the instruction to reserve seats for the night trains, but I can't find any sign for pass holder reservation. We plan to take night trains for the travel, except for Prague to Vienna.

Can someone help me how should I reserve the trains ?

Thanks,
Mia.

hi Mia ...
if there are no buttons or selection fields for "pass holders", you can not book this train online. you have to go to a station then and ask there. :|
from Utrecht to Prague you can't make an online reservation as it is a German CNL night train, but neither your departure or arrival station is in Germany. as at a Netherlands railway station for your reservation: cnl-city-night-line-train-t3736.html
Vienna-Zürich (you can as well buy this reservation in the Netherlands): vienna-zurich-night-train-t1449.html
Zürich-Berlin - online booking is possible: zurich-basel-berlin-t3756.html
Berlin-Utrecht - online booking is possible: berlin-amsterdam-train-t2407.html

How to buy RESERVATIONS and SUPPLEMENTS for European trains

Postby Natalie » 01.03.2010 - 22:27

Hello

I'm trying to book a train from Prague to salzburg via Linz.
I've checked the route planner and it says reservation is required on the IC101 from Prague to Linz. I've checked the supplements section of the forum and there are no IC trains listed. SO do I need to reserve it, but it will be free to do so ??

Thanks for your help!!!

You don't need a reservation on this train - there are two terms used in the schedule planner: :)

- Subject to compulsory reservation  you have to buy a reservation
- Please reserve  you dont have to, but you can buy a reservation

Postby marcela » 18.03.2010 - 00:34

My brother and I are planning to make the following route. He will have a global pass bought in the US and mine is bought in Spain.

Barcelona - Milán 3/28

Milán - Roma 3/29

Roma - Venice 3/31

Venice - Viena 4/1

Viena – Praga 04/03

Praga – Ámsterdam 04/05

Ámsterdam – Paris 04/09

Paris – Barcelona 04/11

We have found some trains trough the route planner but I don't know how to make the reservation in case there is no surcharge.

Hi.

Would have been better if you had bought your pass via our shop to support the answer and all our work, not only an anonymous company ( http://shop.interrailer.com | http://shop.eurailer.net ).

Simply have a look at the country topics of the forum where you will find all the details.
And at the supplements website: http://www.interrail.net/english/supplements.php

Some examples:

Barcelona-Milan (I suppose you are talking about the direct night train?):
barcelona-le-petit-train-jaune-perpignan-pyrenees-paris-milan-t4022.html
barcelona-milan-night-train-t1169.html

Milan-Roma-Venice: by day trains?
http://www.interrail.net/english/supple ... Italy&c=it

and so on...
Have a nice trip, Peter :)

How to buy RESERVATIONS and SUPPLEMENTS for European trains

Postby marcela » 18.03.2010 - 17:33

Hi Peter,

Yes my brother bought it through the page refered to at http://shop.interrailer.com . And I'll buy it at this page as well.
I still have a question. My pass would not work in Spain (home country) then I don't know how to reserve the Barcelona - Milan train. Do I have to make one reservation to the border with France and one more france-Milan?

Plus I could not find the night-train - Elipsos Salvador Dalí. In the Italian webpage (www.ferroviedellostato.it) I'm only given these 2 options none of them available for 2nd class.

Hi.

The direct night train isn't running every day. Just try one day later or earlier.
But the one mentioned Barcelona - Milano (Dep: 19:38) is the one for you.

As your country of residence is Spain, you will have to pay for Barcelona-Perpignan.
Use a cheap regional train via Port-Bou/Cerbere.

If you want and a much nicer option is from Barcelona via the Pyrenees:
barcelona-le-petit-train-jaune-perpignan-pyrenees-paris-milan-t4022.html

The fare for the Spanish part until Latour de Carol is about EUR 20. Then you can continue by your InterRail ticket down to Perpignan.

The night train leaves Perpignan at 22:44h.

Peter :)

How to buy RESERVATIONS and SUPPLEMENTS for European trains

Postby laural » 27.05.2010 - 00:45

Hi!

I have a question regarding supplements for the ICE trains in Germany. I was looking for a connection from Berlin to Leipzig and found an InterCity (ICE) connection. On the interrail homepage I found that ICE is a subject for NO supplements but the route planner homepage says that this trains is a subject for supplements.

Berlin Hbf (tief) 02.06.10 15:52 17:05 ICE 1615 Intercity-Express Subject to supplement, Bordrestaurant, .
Leipzig Hbf

So...I am confused. Which page should I believe?

Thanks,
Laura
