Hey guys,
we are planing an interrailtrip for this summer. Is our route possible in 22 days or should we better buy the One month Pass?
Lyon- Paris (2days) - Toulouse - San Sebastian - Santiago de Compostela - Lisbon - Madrid - Barcelona (2 days)- Avignon - Marseille - Home ( Germany)
we are planing to sleep in Youth hostels and spend an Average 30€ per Day. And, bearing in mind we are two Girls, which Kind of backpack should we take? Is 30-40l enough?

Hi,

I would suggest buying 10-in-22 days pass, since it almost 2 times cheaper than 1 month pass. And to save some time, maybe it makes sense trying to catch 39 euro fare to Paris (or Thalys sometimes has even better deals, depending on your starting point in Germany) and have your InterRail start already from Paris. 39 euros is not so much, considering that you will anyway have to pay something to travel in Germany as your home country. Lyon can be then visited on your way back.
(again depending on your starting point, you can probably use Wochenende ticket to the border and then some promo fare of French railways SNCF, if you happen to catch one)

Wow... Thanks for the quick response we'll definetely take le Petit Train jaune - it sounds like it is a really nice way to cross the mountains!
About leaving germany - we'll probably just head for either Innsbruck or Salzburg as we live in Bavaria and it will only take about two hours to get there, but thanks for the advice anyway!

So Bayern-Ticket seems to be the best way out. Travelling via Austria requires some time (you can probably catch a night train to Zurich from Salzburg, and then IC to Basel and TGV to Paris, arriving 13.34 - not bad). Or you can arrive at almost the same time at Lyon via Geneve.

Munich-Paris (with the 39€ - thank you, good idea!!) - bordeaux - san sebastian - santiago de compostela - porto - lisbon - zaragoza (via nighttrain madrid) - barcelona - perpignan - montpellier - avignon - marseille

We are planing to buy the 30days ticket to be on the "safe side". But we are not sure how to get home from Marseille...we thought about going to lyon and then via switzerland to lake constance and not through italy, basically we just want to get home as quick and as cheap as possible....any helpful ideas?

OK, so best way is via Lyon - Genève - Zürich...it's possible within a day and without supplements (ie Marseille dep 0703 - Lindau arr 2159) but I'd recommend getting a reservation for the TGV from Marseille to Lyon to save some time (ie Marseille dep 0841 - Lindau 2005).

Another solution would be taking the Corail Lunéa overnight from Marseille to Selestat, then go to Lindau via Basel and Zürich...

Marseille 2252 - 0919 Selestat (1,50€ for a reclining seat, they are very comfy)
Selestat 1011 - 1107 Basel
Basel 1207 - 1300 Zürich
Zürich 1316 - 1505 Lindau
